      The English translation of noted Hindi writer Satya Vyas's bestselling Hindi novel "Banaras Talkies" will hit the bookstands in July, Penguin Random House India (PRHI) announced on Saturday.

The slice-of-life novel, originally published in Hindi in 2015, is translated into English by editor and translator Himadri Agarwal. It will be released under Penguin's 'Ebury Press' imprint.

Pegged as one of India's best campus novels, "Banaras Talkies" follows three friends as they navigate undergraduate college life, plan to steal exam papers, struggle to speak to women and forge friendships that will last a lifetime over bad mess food.

"'Banaras Talkies' is an award-winning Hindi bestseller. This 'hostelgic' fiction has entertained readers in Hindi for years. It's of immense pride to me that we can now reach out to new readers in English through Penguin Random House," Vyas, the award-winning author of five bestselling books, including "Dilli Durbar" and "Chaurasi", said in a statement.

Set in one of India's most vibrant colleges, the Banaras Hindu University, the book aims to capture the struggles, aspirations, and lives of young Indians.

"Translating 'Banaras Talkies' has been a journey of love, laughter, and adventure. I was honoured to translate it, and I can't wait to see what English readers think of the book," said Aggarwal.

According to the publishers, the book has been written with the idiomatic flourish that is the hallmark of Banarasi colloquialism.

'बुलडोजर' से आई बारात

 ■श्रावस्ती से बहराइच में 'बुलडोजर' से आई बारात■

       उत्तर प्रदेश के बहराइच जिले में श्रावस्ती से शनिवार को एक मुस्लिम दूल्हे बादशाह की 'बुलडोजर' से आई बारात ने लोगों का ध्यान अपनी ओर खींचा।

उत्तर प्रदेश में योगी आदित्यनाथ के नेतृत्व वाला भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा)सरकार के दूसरे कार्यकाल का 'बुलडोजर' प्रतीक चिह्न बन गया है। यहां तक कि उत्तर प्रदेश विधानसभा चुनाव में मिली जीत के बाद योगी आदित्यनाथ को "बुलडोजर बाबा" का नाम दिया गया है।

मार्च में हुए विधानसभा चुनाव में बुलडोजर एक मुद्दा था और भाजपा को राज्य की 403 विधानसभा सीट में भाजपा को 255, सहयोगी अपना दल (एस) को 12 और निषाद पार्टी को छह सीट मिली थीं, जबकि मुख्य विपक्षी समाजवादी पार्टी को सहयोगी दलों समेत कुल 125 सीट मिली थीं।

शनिवार को बहराइच जिले के रिसिया ब्लाक अंतर्गत लक्ष्मणपुर शंकरपुर निवासी सलीम की बेटी रुबीना का निकाह श्रावस्ती के बादशाह के साथ शनिवार को हुआ। निकाह घर पहुंचने से पहले बुलडोजर पर दूल्हे बादशाह को बिठाकर चौराहे पर घुमाया गया। बाराती अकील, भूरे, शकील समेत कई बुलडोजर पर सवार थे।

बारातियों, घरातियों व क्षेत्र के लोगों में इस कदर उत्साह था कि चौक पर 'बुलडोजर बाबा' की जय की नारेबाजी होने लगी। श्रावस्ती से आए बाराती भूरे प्रधान ने कहा कि 'कारें तो सभी लाते हैं, कभी हाथी—घोड़ों पर बारात लाने का भी प्रचलन था। हम लोगों ने बुलडोजर पर बारात लाने का फैसला कर 'बादशाह- रुबीना' के निकाह को यादगार बनाने की सोची।’’ उन्होंने कहा कि यहां के लोगों द्वारा इस पहल को तवज्जो देना और भी अच्छा लगा।

बहराइच सदर सीट से भाजपा विधायक और पूर्व मंत्री अनुपमा जायसवाल ने 'पीटीआई—भाषा' से कहा कि मुख्यमंत्री योगी जी का बुलडोजर सभी समुदायों के बीच सुशासन के प्रतीक के रूप में लोकप्रिय हो रहा है।

उन्होंने कहा कि कि बुलडोजर सिर्फ अपराधियों के लिए ही भय का प्रतीक हो सकता है, शांतिप्रिय आमजन तो इसे शांति और अनुशासन का प्रतीक मानने लगे हैं। मुस्लिम समुदाय की बारात में इसका शामिल होना सभी समुदायों में योगी सरकार की लोकप्रियता का ज्वलंत उदाहरण है।

गौरतलब है कि उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार में कई माफिया, नेता और उपद्रव करने के आरोपी बुलडोजर के शिकार हो चुके हैं। बांदा जेल में बंद पूर्व विधायक मुख्तार अंसारी, मुख्यमंत्री योगी पर आपत्तिजनक टिप्पणी करने के आरोपी बरेली की भोजीपुरा सीट से सपा विधायक तथा पूर्व मंत्री शहजिल इस्लाम और जेल में बंद पूर्व सांसद अतीक अहमद के कथित अवैध निर्माण पर बुलडोजर चल चुका है।

सियासत का मोहरा बना अधिवक्ता संघ

 ■इंदर सिंह नामधारी का डुगडुगी ड्रामा खत्म■ ❗

  जैसी की चर्चा है, इंदर सिंह नामधारी आज पूर्व घोषित धरना पलामू जिला न्यायाधीश के सामने नहीं देंगे, यह फैसला कल शाम उन्होंने अधिवक्ता संघ के अध्यक्ष रामदेव प्रसाद यादव के हवाले से की है, जिसमें बताया गया कि, जिस उद्देश्य के लिए उन्होंने "धरना" दिए जाने की बात कही गई है, उसकी पूर्ति हो गयी है अर्थात महिला अधिवक्ता सुष्मिता तिवारी एवं उसके सैनिक पति के संग हुई हिंसक संघर्ष को लेकर दर्ज मामले में आरोपी पक्ष को अदालत में पैरवी के लिए वकील मिल गया है ।

      सवाल है कि, अधिवक्ता संघ का अपने सदस्य के साथ हुई हिंसक हमले को लेकर क्या निर्णय था? इसे कभी संघ ने सार्वजनिक तौर पर बताया नहीं, बल्कि टुकड़े-टुकड़े में, मतलब परस्पर बातचीत में ही बताया जाता रहा कि, अधिवक्ताओं से अपील की गई कि, आरोपी पक्ष से कोई सदस्य न्यायालय में खङा नहीं होगा ।

         फिर, नामधारी जैसे " वजनदार " नेता बगैर सोचे-समझे कैसे   भूमि विवाद को लेकर हुए  संघर्ष में अभियुक्त बनाए गये लोगों के तरफ से ' सस्ती लोकप्रियता ' अर्जित करने के ध्येय से कूद गये, यह जानते हुए कि, जब किसी आरोपी/अभियुक्त के लिए पैरवीकार वकील उपलब्ध नहीं होने की स्थिति में अदालत स्वयं उनके लिए अधिवक्ता निशुल्क उपलब्ध करवाती है ।

           दूसरी तरफ, नामधारी का धरना अधिवक्ता संघ के विरुद्ध घोषित नहीं था, उन्होंने न्यायधीश के समक्ष धरना दिए जाने की बात उद्घोषित की थी, फिर संघ के अध्यक्ष रामदेव प्रसाद यादव कैसे अधिवक्ता मंडली की बात/निर्णय को उनसे साझा किए, जैसा कि, पूर्व विधानसभाध्यक्ष नामधारी ने खुलेआम यादव के नाम को प्रचारित-प्रसारित करते हुए कहा है कि, " अधिवक्ता संघ के अध्यक्ष ने उन्हें सूचित किया है ।"

      दरअसल, पूरा मामला टुच्ची राजनीति एवं सस्ती लोकप्रियता अर्जित करने के परिप्रेक्ष्य में है, जिसके झांसे में आम लोगों को प्रभावित करने की कोशिश है अर्थात अगले विधानसभा चुनाव को ध्यान में रखकर सुविचारित, सुनियोजित है, ताकि मतदाताओं के एक बङे जमात को अपनी ओर आकर्षित किया जा सके और इस खेल में नामधारी का कोई सानी नहीं,,, आखिर उन्होंने एक प्रबुद्ध हित समूह के मुखिया रामदेव को एक मोहरे के तौर पर इस्तेमाल करने में कामयाब जो हो गये ⁉️

गांधी-किंग स्कॉलरली एक्सचेंज’

 ●अमेरिका में ‘गांधी-किंग स्कॉलरली एक्सचेंज’ पहल की शुरुआत●

          अमेरिका के विदेश मंत्रालय ने ‘गांधी-किंग स्कॉलरली एक्सचेंज’ पहल की शुरूआत की है, जो राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी और डॉ. मार्टिन लूथर किंग जूनियर के इतिहास तथा विरासत को रेखांकित करेगी।

अपनी तरह की यह पहली पहल मंगलवार को शुरू की गई। पहल नागरिक अधिकारों, सामाजिक न्याय और स्थानीय, राष्ट्रीय एवं अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर समावेश को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए भारत और अमेरिका के 20 उभरते युवा नागरिक नेताओं को एक साथ लाएगी।

विदेश मंत्रालय के ‘ब्यूरो ऑफ एजुकेशनल एंड कल्चरल अफेयर्स’ के अनुसार, पहल के तहत बुधवार से एक सप्ताह का ऑनलाइन कार्यक्रम और ओरिएंटेशन होगा, जिसके बाद सभी 20 युवा नेता अलबामा एंड एम यूनिवर्सिटी, हिस्टोरिकल ब्लैक कॉलेज एंड यूनिवर्सिटी (एचबीसीयू) में दो सप्ताह के एक शैक्षणिक कार्यक्रम में हिस्सा लेंगे।

कक्षा में ज्ञान हासिल करने और चर्चा के अलावा, प्रतिभागी मोंटगोमरी, सेल्मा तथा अलबामा में बर्मिंघम, टेनिस में मेम्फिस और जॉर्जिया में अटलांटा में नागरिक अधिकार साइट का दौरा करेंगे।

प्रेस विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार, जनवरी 2023 में भारतीय तथा अमेरिकी प्रतिभागी महत्वपूर्ण स्थलों और संगठनों का दौरा करने के लिए भारत में फिर से मिलेंगे।

कैपिटल हमला: डोनाल्ड ट्रंप

          अमेरिका के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप के चुनावी अभियान के करीबी सलाहकार, शीर्ष सरकारी अधिकारी और यहां तक कि उनके परिवार के सदस्य भी 2020 के राष्ट्रपति चुनाव में धोखाधड़ी के उनके झूठे दावों को छह जनवरी को कैपिटल में हुई हिंसा से पहले खारिज कर रहे थे, लेकिन पराजित राष्ट्रपति ‘‘वास्तविकता से काफी दूर’’ थे और सत्ता में बने रहने के लिए विचित्र तर्कों का सहारा ले रहे थे।

कैपिटल हिल (अमेरिकी संसद भवन) में हुए दंगों की जांच कर रही समिति को मामले के गवाहों ने यह जानकारी दी।

ट्रंप के चुनाव अभियान के प्रबंधक बिल स्टेपियन ने समिति के समक्ष गवाही देते हुए कहा कि ट्रंप के दामाद जेरेड कुशनर ने ट्रंप को अटॉर्नी रूडी गिउलिआनि और मतदाता धोखाधड़ी के उनके तर्कों से दूर करने की कोशिश की थी। सलाहकारों का मानना ​​था कि वे सच नहीं थे।

पूर्व अटॉर्नी जनरल विलियम बर्र ने कहा, ‘‘ वह (ट्रंप) वास्तविकता से बेहद दूर थे।’’

सुनवाई पर अटॉर्नी जनरल मेरिक गारलैंड ने कहा, ‘‘ मैं सब देख रहा हूं, मैं पूरी सुनवाई देखूंगा। मैं इसे शायद लाइव ना देख पाऊं, लेकिन इसे बाद में जरूर देखूंगा। मैं आश्वासन देता हूं कि 6 जनवरी मामले से जुड़े सभी अभियोजक सुनवाई देख रहे हैं।’’

वहीं, व्हाइट हाउस की प्रेस सचिव कैरीन जीन-पियरे ने कहा कि अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति जो बाइडन नियमित रूप से सुनवाई पर जानकारी हासिल कर रहे हैं, लेकिन रोज सुनवाई देख नहीं रहे।

गौरतलब है कि ट्रंप ने तीन नवंबर 2020 को हुए राष्ट्रपति चुनाव में हार स्वीकार नहीं की थी और उन्होंने चुनाव में धोखाधड़ी के आरोप लगाए थे। ट्रंप के इन आरोपों के बीच उनके समर्थकों ने छह जनवरी को संसद भवन परिसर में कथित तौर पर हिंसा की थी।

यूक्रेन: सामूहिक कब्रगाह

 ●यूक्रेन के जंगल में एक और सामूहिक कब्र मिली●

             कभी चीड़ के वृक्षों की सुंदरता और पक्षियों के चहचहाने के लिए पहचाने जाने वाले यूक्रेन के एक जंगल से अब लाशों के ढेर मिल रहे हैं। राजधानी कीव के बाहरी इलाके में बुका शहर के समीप जंगल से एक और सामूहिक कब्र मिली है।

कई मृतकों के हाथ उनकी कमर के पीछे बंधे मिले हैं। इन कब्रों को खोदने का काम ऐसे वक्त में हो रहा है जब यूक्रेन के पुलिस प्रमुख ने अपनी रिपोर्ट में कहा है कि प्राधिकारियों ने 24 फरवरी को रूस के यूक्रेन पर आक्रमण के बाद से 12,000 से अधिक लोगों की हत्याओं की आपराधिक जांच शुरू की है।

सफेद रंग के चिकित्सीय कपड़े पहने और मास्क लगाए कामगारों ने फावड़े की मदद से वन की मिट्टी से शवों को निकालना शुरू किया। कपड़े और धूल से ढके शवों पर मक्खियां भिनभिनाने लगी।

कीव क्षेत्रीय पुलिस के प्रमुख एंड्री नेबीतोव ने घटनास्थल पर कहा, ‘‘घुटनों पर गोलियों के निशान हमें बताते हैं कि लोगों को कितना प्रताड़ित किया गया। टेप से पीठ पर बांधे गए हाथ बताते हैं कि लोगों को लंबे वक्त तक बंधक बनाकर रखा गया और शत्रु सेना ने उनसे कोई भी सूचना निकालने का प्रयास किया।’’

क्षेत्र से मार्च के अंत तक रूसी सैनिकों की वापसी के बाद से प्राधिकारियों ने बताया कि उन्होंने वन में तथा अन्य जगहों से सामूहिक कब्रों में 1,316 लोगों के शव बरामद किए हैं।

बुका में सामूहिक कब्रें मिलने के बाद दुनियाभर में तीखी प्रतिक्रिया देखी गयी थी।

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announce

 ●Govt unveils radical changes in recruitment of soldiers●

         India unveiled a new scheme called "Agnipath" on Tuesday for the recruitment of soldiers in the Army, the Navy and the Air Force, largely on a short-term contractual basis, with an aim to cut the ballooning salary and pensions bill.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced the new scheme at a media briefing, shortly after the Cabinet Committee on Security approved it.

"The Agnipath recruitment scheme is a transformative initiative that will provide a youthful profile to the armed forces," Singh said.

The revolutionary changes in the recruitment process will see the induction of the soldiers initially for a period of four years and some of them would be retained.

"Under the Agnipath scheme, Indian youngsters will be provided an opportunity to serve in the armed forces as 'Agniveer'," the defence minister said.

Navy chief Admiral R Hari Kumar said the scheme will ensure a wider talent pool for recruitment in the armed forces.

The "Agnipath" scheme, earlier christened as "Tour of Duty", was launched in the presence of the chiefs of the three services.

The new scheme was announced after extensive deliberations on it over the last two years.

The soldiers to be recruited under the scheme will be called "Agniveer".

Currently, the Army recruits young people under the short service commission for an initial tenure of 10 years, which is extendable up to 14 years.

The scheme is aimed at slashing the salary and pension bills of the three services, which have been increasing rapidly.

The defence budget of Rs 5,25,166 crore for 2022-23 included Rs 1,19,696 crore for defence pensions.

The allocation for revenue expenditure was Rs 2,33,000 crore. The revenue expenditure includes the expenses on payment of salaries and maintenance of establishments.

Pawar not in Presidential race

 ●Sharad Pawar not in Presidential race: NCP●

           NCP chief Sharad Pawar is not keen on contesting the Presidential election, according to a senior party leader, even as some opposition parties have backed his candidature for the race to the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The issue came up for discussion after Pawar met Maharashtra NCP ministers here on Monday.

An NCP minister, who attended the meeting, said Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh met Pawar on Sunday and affirmed his party's support to the NCP chief for the election for the next President of India, to be held on July 18.

Last week, when senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge was in Mumbai in connection with the Rajya Sabha polls, he pitched for Pawar's name as the opposition's joint candidate for the presidential polls.

Kharge said the Congress had even consulted the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) over Pawar's candidature.

"But, I don't think he is keen on it (contesting polls). Saheb (Pawar) is a people's man who loves meeting people. He will not restrict himself to the Rashtrapati Bhavan," the minister from the NCP said.

More importantly, Pawar is busy trying to bring the opposition together ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he said.

The Congress has been reaching out to other opposition parties for a common candidate for the presidential polls.

The BJP-led NDA is comfortably placed to win the presidential election, with its vote share touching the 50 per cent mark of the total electors.

While there are 776 MPs of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, each having 700 votes, there are 4,033 legislators in states with different votes who will also elect President Ram Nath Kovind's successor.

Though the final list of electors is yet to be notified, the NDA has 440 MPs in its favour while the opposition UPA has around 180 MPs, besides 36 MPs of the TMC who normally support the opposition candidate.

The election for the President will be held on July 18 which will see voting by members of both the Houses of Parliament and state Assemblies.

 ऑस्ट्रेलिया के साथ संबंध ‘नए मोड़’ पर हैं : चीनी राजदूत

         ऑस्ट्रेलिया में चीन के राजदूत ने कहा कि ऑस्ट्रेलिया में नयी सरकार बनने और दो वर्षों से भी अधिक समय में पहली मंत्री स्तरीय वार्ता के साथ दोनों देशों के बीच संबंध ‘‘नए मोड़’’ पर है।

राजदूत शिआओ क्वान ने पश्चिमी तटीय शहर पर्थ में ऑस्ट्रेलिया-चीन मैत्री सोसायटी में सप्ताहांत भाषण में द्विपक्षीय संबंधों पर बातचीत की। दूतावास की वेबसाइट ने सोमवार को यह भाषण प्रकाशित किया है।

शिआओ ने कहा, ‘‘अंतरराष्ट्रीय, राजनीतिक और आर्थिक परिदृश्य गहन और जटिल बदलावों के दौर से गुजर रहे हैं। चीन-ऑस्ट्रेलिया के संबंध नए मोड़ पर हैं, कई अवसरों का सामना कर रहे हैं।’’

उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘मेरा दूतावास और ऑस्ट्रेलिया में चीन के महावाणिज्यदूतावास ऑस्ट्रेलिया की संघीय सरकार, राज्य सरकारों और सभी वर्गों के मित्रों के साथ मिलकर चीन-ऑस्ट्रेलिया संबंधों को हमारे दोनों देशों तथा लोगों के फायदे के लिए सही राह पर ले जाने के वास्ते तैयार है।’’

शिआओ ने शनिवार को यह भाषण दिया, जिसके एक दिन बाद चीन के रक्षा मंत्री जनरल वेई फेंगे ने सिंगापुर में क्षेत्रीय सुरक्षा सम्मेलन से इतर ऑस्ट्रेलिया के अपने समकक्ष रिचर्ड मार्ल्स से एक घंटे तक बैठक की।

मार्ल्स ने द्विपक्षीय संबंधों को ठीक करने में इस बैठक को ‘‘महत्वपूर्ण पहला कदम’’ बताया।

file plea in Allahabad HC against house demolition

 ●Group of advocates file plea in Allahabad HC against Javed Ahmad's house demolition●

              A body of advocates in Prayagaraj has e-mailed a petition to the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court against the demolition of a house of the alleged mastermind of the June 10 violence here by the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA).

The building map of the house of the accused, Javed Ahmad, had not been approved by the PDA, according to an official of the agency.

Five advocates from an association, Zila Adhivakta Manch, claimed in the petition that the owner of the house, demolished on Sunday, was Javed's wife Parveen Fatima.

The said house was given to Fatima by her parents before her marriage, so Ahmad had no ownership over the house and on the plot, hence the demolition was against the law, claimed the plea which was e-mailed to the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court on Sunday.

The petition also said that in order to justify the demolition, the PDA had pasted a notice on the house on June 11, mentioning about a show-cause notice of a previous date. Neither Ahmad nor his wife had got the show-cause notice, it claimed.

The petition stated that "social worker" Ahmad was arrested on the night of June 10, and an FIR was registered against him at Khuldabad police station on June 11.

The advocates, who have filed the petition are KK Rai, Mohammad Saeed Siddiqui, Rajvendra Singh, Prabal Pratap, Ravindra Singh and others.

"Javed Ahmad's house -- JK Ashiyana -- is located in the Kareli area of Prayagraj. Police personnel and a JCB machine reached the Kareli police station around 10.30 am and the demolition commenced around 1 pm," a senior PDA official had said on Sunday.

"The house was built without getting its map passed by the PDA. For this, he was issued a notice on May 10 and was told to present his side on May 24. On the given date, neither Javed nor his lawyer turned up. No document was presented as well, and hence on May 25, demolition orders were issued," he said.

Speaking to PTI, Superintendent of Police (City) Dinesh Kumar Singh on Sunday had said, "In the morning, some of Javed Ahmad's family members collected a few of their belongings and left the place through the back door. As of now, no one is inside the house."

Senior Superintendent of Police, Prayagraj, Ajay Kumar said the estimated value of the house was Rs 5 crore.

During the demolition, he said, the police also searched the house and found many objectionable items which were seized. These will be included in the investigation.

The development comes a day after the illegal properties of two persons accused of rioting were bulldozed in Saharanpur, which witnessed stone pelting on Friday.

According to police, Javed Ahmad is the alleged mastermind of the stone pelting that took place here on June 10 after protests against the controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad made by now-suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma spun out of control.

A mob set on fire a few motorcycles and carts and also attempted to set ablaze a police vehicle. Police used tear gas and lathis to disperse the protesters and restore peace. A policeman was injured in the violence.

The protests were also held in at least four other cities of Uttar Pradesh.

The row over the remarks against Prophet Mohammad escalated last week as several Muslim countries denounced them, prompting the BJP to suspend Sharma.

          बहरहाल, खबर है कि, वह अगले कुछ दिनों के भीतर पलामू के प्रधान एवं सत्र न्यायाधीश प्रदीप कुमार चौबे के समक्ष धरना देंगे और यह धरना भी इस मांग के लिए कि, ' एक ब्राह्मण परिवार " को अदालत में पैरवी के लिए वकील नहीं मिल रहा, क्योंकि पलामू जिला अधिवक्ता संघ ने एक महिला अधिवक्ता के साथ हुई एक मारपीट को लेकर हमलावर पक्ष की तरफ से किसी वकील को पैरवी करने से मना कर रखा है ।

             सवाल है कि, ब्राह्मण शब्द का प्रयोग नामधारी ने क्यों किया? क्या अन्य समुदाय के लोग अधिवक्ता संघ के निर्णय से पीङित नहीं हैं! हाल ही में उक्त हित समूह ने एक दलित सामाजिक/राजनीतिक कार्यकर्ता शत्रुघ्न कुमार 'शत्रु' के पक्ष में न्यायालय में पैरवी करने से अपने सदस्यों पर रोक लगा दी है,,, इस पर नामधारी की नजर क्यों नहीं पङी? जबकि वह एक ' प्रबुद्ध क्रियाविद् ' समझे जाते हैं!!

               दरअसल, नामधारी राजनीति के एक सयाने खिलाङी हैं, वह जानते हैं कि, डालटनगंज विधानसभा क्षेत्र में शुरू से ब्राह्मण राजनीति एक कोण से प्रभावी रही है और यह कांटा उनके पुत्र दिलिप सिंह नामधारी के राह का एक जबरदस्त रोङा है, जिसे साथ लिए बगैर चुनावी वैतरणी पार करना मुश्किल है । ऐसे में ब्राह्मण परिवार शब्दावली के खास मायने हैं, जिसे उन्होंने अपने रणनीतिक हिसाब से इस्तेमाल की है ।

                एक बात और, वह यह कि, हाल में राजद प्रमुख लालू प्रसाद यादव का एक न्यायिक मामले में मेदिनीनगर आगमन हुआ था, लालू- नामधारी मुलाकात के पूर्व झारखंड में राजद कोटे से मंत्री बने सत्यानंद भोक्ता उनसे भेंट करने उनके आवास गये थे और जब परिसदन में पत्रकारों ने इस मुलाकात के बाबत राजनीति के परिप्रेक्ष्य में सवाल किया, तब उनका मासूमियत भरा जवाब था-" मैं तो राजनीति से सन्यास ले चुका हूँ ।"

       अतएव, साफ़ है कि, नामधारी जीवन के अंतिम पङाव में अपने बेटे दिलीप के रास्ते में पङने वाले कील-कांटे को दुरुस्त करने में जी-जान से भिङ गये हैं ‼

Sri Lanka to introduce fuel quota

 ■Sri Lanka to introduce guaranteed weekly fuel quota for consumers at filling stations from next month■

            The Sri Lankan government plans to introduce a fuel rationing scheme from next month, under which registered consumers at filling stations would be guaranteed a weekly quota, a senior minister said on Sunday.

The island nation has been experiencing long lines for fuel refilling since mid-February with pressure coming on the diesel supplies for thermal power generation.

By early April, the island was experiencing 10-hour power cuts due to shortages of diesel and furnace oil for power generation.

We have no choice but to register consumers at filling stations and give them a guaranteed weekly quota until we are able to strengthen the financial situation, restore 24 Hour Power and a steady Supply of fuel. I hope to have this system in place by the 1st week of July, Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera tweeted on Sunday.

The minister said that the supply of fuel should be managed until there is a round-the-clock 24-hour uninterrupted supply of electricity and fuel.

This paucity has led to reports of stockpiling and hoarding of fuel.

Wijesekera hoped that this measure of imposing a fuel quota would go a long way in addressing the crisis.

With the financial restrictions in place, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation imports fuel to manage for a week, but some consumers stockpile fuel for a month or more for their machinery and generators, he said in another tweet.

He said that 24-hour power supply costs an additional USD 100 million monthly for diesel, furnace oil and naptha.

The shortage in gas supply has increased the demand for electricity and kerosene, and the monthly fuel bill that was USD 200 million four months ago, now stands at USD 550 million, the minister added.

Meanwhile, the last of the fuel shipments due under the Indian Line of Credit are arriving in Sri Lanka later this month, with no indications on the sustenance of future supplies, which are dependent on India's assistance.

We are expecting the last diesel shipment under ILC (Indian Line of Credit) on June 16 and the last petrol shipment on June 22," Wijesekera told reporters on Saturday.

Sri Lanka's fuel purchases have been totally dependent on the ILC -- a USD 500 million credit line initially which was supplemented with another USD 200 million later.

Wijesekera said the minimum daily requirement of diesel was 5,000 metric tonnes as people need it to run private generators due to the power cuts imposed.

India has helped Sri Lanka with thousands of tonnes of diesel and petrol, apart from food and medical supplies, to help ease the acute fuel shortage in the debt-ridden island nation.

The economic crisis in Sri Lanka has prompted an acute shortage of essential items like food, medicine, cooking gas and other fuel, toilet paper and even matches, with citizens for months being forced to wait in lines lasting hours outside stores to buy fuel and cooking gas.

The severe depreciation of the Sri Lankan rupee against the US dollar, the soaring global prices of crude due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the depleting gas reserves are the reasons why the country has been struggling to import fuel.

Consequently, spontaneous protests have been reported at filling stations across the country where consumers have been waiting in long serpentine queues for fuel for hours on end.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard

 ●2 members of Iran's Revolutionary Guard die amid tensions●

       Two members of the paramilitary Revolutionary Guard's aerospace division died as martyrs in Iran in separate incidents over the weekend, Iranian media reported on Monday. The term is typically a designation given to those on important assignments.

The deaths of the two men come as tensions remain high over Iran's tattered nuclear deal with world powers, and its uranium enrichment program that is now closest it has ever been to weapons-grade levels. While authorities offered no suggestion of foul play in the men's deaths, Israel has been accused of killing other high-ranking Guard members amid the growing crisis.

The semiofficial Fars and Tasnim news agencies, believed to be close to the Guard, identified one of the dead as Ali Kamani and said he died in Iran's central city of Khomein. Tasnim said that Kamani died in a car accident, without elaborating.

The news agencies did not give a rank for Kamani. However, a photo published by Tasnim showed the man wearing the epaulets of a second lieutenant in the Guard's aerospace programme, which runs Iran's ballistic missile program as well as some of the country's air defences.

Khomein, the birthplace of the Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini who led the 1979 Islamic Revolution, is in the province of Markazi. That province is also home to Iran's Arak heavy water reactor, a key nuclear program site that has air defences around it.

Fars alone reported on the death of the second man, whom it identified as Mohammad Abdous. The agency published a picture of Abdous in civilian clothes at the Imam Reza Shrine in the city of Mashhad, Iran.

Fars said that Abdous died on a mission while working in Iran's Semnan province. Rural Semnan province, east of Tehran, is home to the Imam Khomeini Spaceport, which has been used in satellite launches.

The report of the two men's deaths come about a week and half after the reported death of Guard Col. Ali Esmailzadeh, a member of its expeditionary Quds Force, under unclear circumstances.

In May, two gunmen on a motorcycle shot and killed Guard Col. Hassan Sayyad Khodaei in Tehran. There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack. Iranian officials have blamed global arrogance code for the United States and Israel for Khodaei's killing.

The 50-year-old Khodaei remains a shadowy figure and Iran has yet to offer biographic detail beyond saying that he also was a member of the elite Quds Force. The Guard has described him as defender of the shrine a reference to Iranians who support militias fighting the extremist Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq. Thousands attended his funeral in Tehran and hard-line President Ebrahim Raisi visited his family.

The manner of the slaying evoked previous targeted attacks by Israel in Iran. In November 2020, a top Iranian military nuclear scientist, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, was killed by a remote-controlled machine gun while travelling in a car outside Tehran.

                कुवैत सरकार ने भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) के दो पदाधिकारियों द्वारा पैगंबर मोहम्मद के खिलाफ की गयी विवादित टिप्पणियों के विरोध में एक प्रदर्शन में भाग लेने वाले प्रवासियों को गिरफ्तार करने तथा उन्हें निष्कासित करने का फैसला किया है। खाड़ी देश के कानूनों में ऐसे प्रदर्शनों की अनुमति नहीं है।

सऊदी अरब में अंग्रेजी भाषा के दैनिक अखबार ‘अरब न्यूज’ में प्रकाशित एक खबर में सूत्रों के हवाले से कहा गया है कि शुक्रवार की नमाज के बाद फाहाहील इलाके से पैगंबर मोहम्मद के समर्थन में प्रदर्शन करने वाले प्रवासियों को गिरफ्तार करने का निर्देश दिया गया है। देश के कानूनों के अनुसार खाड़ी देश में प्रवासियों द्वारा धरना या प्रदर्शन करने की मनाही है।

कुवैती अखबार अल राई ने खबर दी है, ‘‘अधिकारी उन्हें गिरफ्तार करने तथा उनके देश वापस भेजने के लिए निर्वासन केंद्र ले जाने की प्रक्रिया में हैं और उनके फिर से कुवैत आने की अनुमति नहीं होगी।’’

खबर में प्रदर्शन में भाग लेने वाले प्रवासियों की नागरिकता का जिक्र नहीं है।

कुवैत सरकार उन कुछ देशों में से एक है जिसने पूर्व भाजपा पदाधिकारी की टिप्पणियों को लेकर भारतीय दूत को समन भेजा था।

कुवैत के विदेश मंत्रालय ने कहा कि कुवैत में भारत के राजदूत सिबी जॉर्ज को सम्मन भेजा गया और एशिया मामलों के सहायक विदेश मंत्री ने उन्हें एक आधिकारिक विरोध पत्र सौंपा।

मंत्रालय ने भारत की सत्तारूढ़ पार्टी द्वारा जारी बयान का स्वागत किया, जिसमें उसने नेताओं को निलंबित करने की घोषणा की।

गौरतलब है कि कई मुस्लिम देशों ने पूर्व भाजपा पदाधिकारी की विवादित टिप्पणियों की निंदा की है।

आधिकारिक आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, कुवैत में कानूनी रूप से रह रहे भारतीय नागरिकों की संख्या 2019 में 10 लाख से ऊपर हो गई थी। कुवैत में हर साल भारतीय समुदाय के लोगों की संख्या में पांच-छह प्रतिशत की वृद्धि हो रही है।

 ●Tata Steel unveils green investment plan for UK steel tube mill●

        Tata Steel has unveiled a 7-million pound investment plan for its Hartlepool Tube Mill in north-east England that the Indian steel major says will cut carbon emissions, improve capacity and reduce costs to strengthen its UK business.

The investment will go into a new slitter which will allow the Hartlepool site to process coils of steel delivered from Tata's Port Talbot steelmaking site in South Wales. All of the steel products made at the site, where almost 300 people work producing up to 200,000 tonnes of steel tubes a year, are 100 per cent recyclable and the investment is forecast to pay for itself in less than three years.

This project will allow us to bring a vital process on site, which in turn will free up thousands of tonnes of capacity at the Port Talbot site, Andrew Ward, Works Manager of Tata Steel in Hartlepool, said last week.

This will improve our efficiency and reduce overall CO2 emissions from our steel processing as well as reducing the total costs across the business, he said.

Currently, wide steel slabs are slit in Port Talbot before being rolled and sent to Hartlepool to be turned into steel tubes, which are then used in a wide range of products such as agricultural machinery, sports stadiums, steel-framed buildings and the energy sector.

The new project is expected to take more than a year to complete and is the second major investment announced by the Indian company in the UK this year after an investment plan for its site at Corby in the north-eastern England region. Both projects will further strengthen the UK business, improving services to customers and using the latest available technology to reduce environmental emissions, Tata Steel UK said.

Andrew Ward added: Above all, safety will be a key factor in this investment both during the construction phase and when the new slitter is up and running. It will feature the latest computer-controlled technology, which reduces the need for our employees to be close to any hazardous operations and it will be as energy-efficient as possible.

The new slitter line will optimise the UK value chain for our smaller tube product range, allowing steel coil to flow through the chain and provide flexibility with on-site slitting . This investment will support the ongoing drive to improve customer delivery performance and responsiveness which the Hartlepool 20 Mill team pride themselves upon.

Tata Steel in the UK says it has the ambition to produce net-zero steel by 2050 at the latest and to have reduced 30 per cent of CO2 emissions by 2030. The vast majority of that work will need to happen in South Wales, where the company's largest operational site is.

Tata Steel says it is developing detailed plans for this transition to future steelmaking based on low CO2 technologies and is close to knowing which will best help achieve its ambitions.

The steel giant is one of Europe's leading steel producers, with steelmaking in the Netherlands and the UK, and manufacturing plants across Europe. The company's tube products are used across a broad range of industries, including construction, machinery fabrication, energy and automotive. Next week, the company will be at the Wire and Tube 2022 fair in Dusseldorf, Germany, after a long gap due to the coronavirus pandemic.

After the last few years, we are really looking forward to this opportunity to connect with so many customers in one place and showcase our broad tube portfolio, said Anil Jhanji, Chief Commercial Officer for Tata Steel UK.

राहुल से ईडी की पूछताछ

 ●धनशोधन मामले में राहुल गांधी से ईडी की पूछताछ●

         कांग्रेस के पूर्व अध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी ‘नेशनल हेराल्ड’ से जुड़े कथित धनशोधन मामले में सोमवार को प्रवर्तन निदेशालय (ईडी) के समक्ष पेश हुए और जांच एजेंसी द्वारा उनसे पूछताछ जारी है।

अधिकारियों ने बताया कि राहुल गांधी सुबह करीब 11.10 बजे एपेजी अब्दुल कलाम रोड स्थित ईडी के मुख्यालय पहुंचे और संभावना है कि वह अपना बयान लिखित रूप से दें।

राहुल गांधी कांग्रेस मुख्यालय से ईडी दफ्तर पहुंचे। इस मौके पर राजस्थान के मुख्यमंत्री अशोक गहलोत, छत्तीसगढ़ के मुख्यमंत्री भूपेश बघेल, पार्टी महासचिव प्रियंका गांधी वाद्रा समेत कांग्रेस के कई वरिष्ठ नेता और बड़ी संख्या में कार्यकर्ता पहुंचे और राहुल गांधी के प्रति अपना समर्थन जताया।

राहुल गांधी का काफिला जब ईडी मुख्यालय पहुंचा तो गाड़ी में उनके बगल में प्रियंका गांधी भी बैठी हुईं थीं।

एजेंसी धन शोधन रोकथाम अधिनियम (पीएमएलए) की आपराधिक धाराओं के तहत राहुल गांधी का बयान दर्ज करेगी।

अधिकारियों के अनुसार, कांग्रेस के वरिष्ठ नेताओं और गांधी परिवार से पूछताछ ईडी की जांच का हिस्सा है ताकि ‘यंग इंडियन’ और ‘एसोसिएटेड जर्नल्स लिमिटेड’ (एजेएल) के हिस्सेदारी पैटर्न, वित्तीय लेनदेन और प्रवर्तकों की भूमिका को समझा जा सके। ‘यंग इंडियन’ के प्रवर्तकों और शेयरधारकों में सोनिया गांधी तथा राहुल गांधी सहित कांग्रेस के कुछ अन्य सदस्य शामिल हैं।

राहुल गांधी से ‘यंग इंडिया’ की स्थापना, ‘नेशनल हेराल्ड’ के संचालन और धन के कथित हस्तांतरण को लेकर सवाल किए जा सकते हैं।

कांग्रेस ने राहुल गांधी की पेशी के मद्देनजर देश भर में ईडी कार्यालयों के बाहर ‘सत्याग्रह’ का फैसला किया था और दिल्ली में भी बड़े पैमाने पर शक्ति प्रदर्शन की तैयारी कर रखी थी।

कांग्रेस के यहां प्रस्तावित मार्च के मद्देनजर पुलिस ने कांग्रेस के कई कार्यकर्ताओं को हिरासत में ले लिया और पार्टी मुख्यालय के आसपास धारा 144 लगा दी।

मुख्य विपक्षी दल के मुख्य प्रवक्ता रणदीप सुरजेवाला ने ईडी को भाजपा का ‘इलेक्शन मैनेजमेंट डिमार्टमेंट’ करार दिया और आरोप लगाया कि नरेंद्र मोदी सरकार ने कांग्रेस के ‘सत्याग्रह’ को रोकने के लिए नयी दिल्ली के इलाके में अघोषित आपातकाल लगा दिया है।

ईडी ने इससे पहले राहुल गांधी को दो जून को पेश होने के लिये कहा था, लेकिन उन्होंने पेश होने के लिए कोई दूसरी तारीख देने का अनुरोध करते हुए कहा था कि वह देश से बाहर हैं।

जांच एजेंसी ने इसी मामले में कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी को 23 जून को तलब किया है। पहले उन्हें आठ जून को पेश होने के लिए नोटिस दिया गया था। हालांकि कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष ने पेश होने के लिए और समय मांगा था क्योंकि वह कोरोना वायरस से संक्रमित हैं तथा अब तक स्वस्थ नहीं हुई हैं।

कांग्रेस का कहना है कि उसके शीर्ष नेताओं के खिलाफ लगाए गए आरोप निराधार हैं तथा ईडी की कार्रवाई प्रतिशोध की राजनीति के तहत की जा रही है। उसने यह भी कहा है कि वह एवं उसका नेतृत्व झुकने वाले नहीं है।

पार्टी के मुख्य प्रवक्ता सुरजेवाला ने कांग्रेस के शीर्ष नेताओं के खिलाफ लगे आरोपों को निराधार करार देते हुए कहा, ‘‘कांग्रेस एक राजनीतिक दल है और एक राजनीतिक दल किसी कंपनी में हिस्सेदारी नहीं खरीद सकता। इसलिए, ‘यंग इंडियन’ के नाम से एक गैर-लाभकारी कंपनी (नॉट फॉर प्रॉफिट कंपनी) को ‘नेशनल हेराल्ड’ एवं एसोसिएटेड जर्नल्स लिमिटेड के शेयर दिए गए, ताकि 90 करोड़ रुपये का कर्ज खत्म हो सके।’’

उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘इस 90 करोड़ रुपये में से 67 करोड़ रुपये कर्मचारियों के वेतन एवं वीआरएस के लिए दिए गए तथा बाकी सरकार का बकाया, बिजली के बिल तथा भवन के लिए भुगतान हुआ। यह अपराध कैसे हो सकता है? यह तो कर्तव्य का बोध है। हमने मोदी सरकार की तरह देश की संपत्ति अपने उद्योगपति मित्रों को नहीं बेच डाली।’’

सुरजेवाला के अनुसार, ‘नेशनल हेराल्ड’ के स्वामित्व वाले एसोसिएटेड जर्नल्स लिमिटेड के पास आज भी सारी संपत्ति हूबहू सुरक्षित है।

 ●100 terrorists killed in Kashmir in 2022 so far●

      Security forces have killed 100 terrorists in Kashmir during counter insurgency operations since the beginning of this year with Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit bearing the maximum brunt as it lost 63 cadres, officials said here on Monday.

"Security forces have eliminated 100 terrorists, including 29 foreigners, since the beginning of this year in Kashmir," the officials said.

They said this was double the number of ultras killed during the corresponding period last year.

"Fifty terrorists including one foreigner were killed in the counter terrorism operations last year in the first five months and 12 days," the officials said.

While 63 of the slain terrorists belonged to banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, 24 others were affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), they said.

कर्नाटक: शिलालेख

 ●बैंदुर में 15वीं सदी का शिलालेख पाया गया●

        कर्नाटक के उडुपी जिले के बैंदुर तालुक में नंदनवन गांव में 15वीं सदी के विजयनगर साम्राज्य का शिलालेख बरामद किया गया है। एक बयान में इसकी जानकारी दी गयी है ।

एक विज्ञप्ति में यहां कहा गया है कि सेंट एलॉयसियस कॉलेज के निदेशक श्रुथेश आचार्य ने सेवानिवृत्त शिक्षक के. श्रीधर भट और ओरिएंटल अभिलेखागार अनुसंधान केंद्र के निदेशक प्रोफेसर एस ए कृष्णैया के मार्गदर्शन में शिलालेख का अध्ययन किया।

यह शिलालेख संजीव प्रभु नाम के व्यक्ति की जमीन पर पाया गया और काना पत्थर में खुदा हुआ था। पांच फुट लंबे और 2.5 फुट चौड़े शिलालेख में कन्नड़ भाषा में 38 पंक्तियां लिखी हुई है।

शीर्ष छोर पर बने वामन प्रतिमा के दोनों ओर शंख, चक्र, सूर्य और चंद्रमा गुदा हुआ है। इसमें ‘स्वस्ति श्री गणाधिपताये नम:’ शीर्षक लिखा है और तारीख 21 अगस्त, 1519 ईसवी की है।

शिलालेख पर तारीख स्पष्ट रूप से दर्शाती है कि यह विजयनगर साम्राज्य के तुलुवा शासक कृष्णदेवराया के वक्त का है। इस काल के दौरान बाराकूरा प्रांत पर रत्नप्पा ओडेया के बेटे विजयप्पा ओडेया का शासन था।
